In order to help with creating UCSD’s first sustainable building policy, different departments – from Campus Planning to Facilities Management to Real Estate – will be collaborating in working groups through this and Winter quarter to discuss pointed issues for consideration.
One of the hot topics is whether the campus should strive for more ambitious sustainable building designs and operations, with respect to higher building assessment levels set under LEED and WELL; the key question is how this would realistically play out across the whole campus. Because this is such a big question in itself, the steering committee has asked Green Building Council at UCSD, a student group focused on green building initiatives on campus, to help support these working groups. If interested in assisting with research and discussing solutions, and in an opportunity to see how green building assessments are implemented in actual design, email email@example.com by Oct 26.
